getting started

    • Also known as “telehealth,” it’s therapy that takes place over the internet instead of in person.

    • Lots of people like the convenience of having sessions from home or work.

    • Research indicates it’s as effective as in-person therapy.

  • Yes.

Message or email your insurance plan info + the state where you would access therapy. (I’m licensed in Michigan & New York, so you can join sessions from either state.)

  • Yes, I offer a free 15-minute call.

It’s an opportunity for you to ask questions and get a sense of what working together will be like.

  • The first appointment is about information gathering and lasts an hour. I’ll ask a lot of questions about your life right now and things that have happened to you. I’ll ask about relationships, what growing up was like, what’s important to you, and what kind of support you’re looking for. If you’ve tried therapy before, I’ll ask about what you liked or found helpful.

And it’s okay if there are things you’re not ready to talk about.

  • 55 minutes

  • I usually recommend weekly to start.

Building trust and rapport at the beginning fosters continuity, deeper exploration, and consistent support.

If your schedule or budget make weekly sessions difficult, we can talk about what’s best for you.

insurance & cost

  • Yes.

I don’t work with EAPs but am currently in network with these providers:

NEW YORK: Aetna, BCBS of MA (in NY), Optum/United Healthcare, Oxford

MICHIGAN: Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) of MI, Blue Care Network, BCBS of MA (in MI), Optum/United Healthcare

I recommend confirming with your insurance plan before scheduling an initial appointment or consult. The billing platforms I use provide estimates only.

  • WITHOUT insurance: $150/session.

WITH insurance: Everyone’s plan is different. I strongly recommend calling the number on the back of your insurance card or reviewing your summary plan description or summary of benefits and coverage for details about your mental health coverage (e.g., What is my copay? Have I met my deductible? How many sessions will be covered ?).

  • I work with an online platform that handles insurance invoicing and billing.

I also accept payment through Square.

availability & scheduling

  • You’ll have access to my calendar and can schedule appointments with me at the end of a session or later on your own.

Let me know If you’d like to schedule a standing series of sessions to reserve a consistent day and time slot.

  • Message or email me.

  • That’s workable. Just let me know, and we can talk about what makes sense for you.

  • Generally, Monday to Friday, 9am - 5:30pm. I have a few appointments later in the day.

details

  • I’ll do my best to respect your time, so please be mindful of mine.

If you need to cancel, please do so at least 24 hours before your scheduled appointment to avoid a late cancellation/”no-show” fee of $45.

This isn’t meant to be punitive. It helps make it possible for me to accept insurance, which doesn’t cover missed sessions. It also opens the slot for someone else.

  • Message or email me as soon as you can.

Generally, I’ll wait 15 minutes before considering it a “no show” unless I know you’ll be late.

  • I work with an online therapy platform but also use a HIPAA-compliant version of Google Meet.
